A guide to the two Cardiff Comets teams, their 2026/27 competitions and how this season's opponents differ from last year.
Cardiff Comets will be represented by two competitive teams in 2026/27, each facing a different mix of familiar opponents and fresh challenges. Here is a guide to both competitions and what has changed since last season.
Cardiff Comets - WNIHL 2 South Valerie
The main Comets side competes in WNIHL 2 South Valerie. This season's opponents are:
- Oxford Midnight Stars
- Slough Sirens
- Solent Amazons
- Invicta Dynamics
- Streatham Storm
What has changed?
Oxford, Slough and Solent remain in the division from 2025/26, giving the Comets three familiar rivalries. Invicta Dynamics and Streatham Storm join the line-up this season, replacing Chelmsford Pythons and Haringey Greyhounds in Cardiff's group.
That gives the main team a balanced schedule: three returning opponents and two new challenges as the Comets look to make their mark across the South.
Cardiff FW Comets - Frank Wright Conference North
The club's Frank Wright Conference team moves from last season's West group into the North Conference for 2026/27. Its opponents are:
- Bristol Huskies FW Development
- Coventry Phoenix Rising
- Nottingham Vipers
- Sheffield Shadows
What has changed?
Bristol remains alongside Cardiff, while GameDay now lists Coventry Phoenix Rising in place of last season's Coventry Phoenix entry. Nottingham Vipers and Sheffield Shadows are new conference opponents for the Comets.
Oxford Shining Stars and Slough Sirens, who completed last season's West group, are no longer in Cardiff's Frank Wright conference. The move north therefore brings a substantially refreshed set of fixtures and the chance to build new rivalries.
Two teams, one club
